How To Batch Content For Instagram

Do you struggle with creating Instagram content? I know the feeling all too well. Opening up the app, hitting the icon to add a post, and then sitting there staring blankly at the screen, waiting for inspiration to hit and point you in the direction of what to post next.

If you’re anything like me, you create all of your own social media content for your business and you also get stumped every single time you get ready to post something. Creating content can seem like a full-time job sometimes, but it doesn’t have to.

Batching content can take a large amount of work off your plate because you’ll only be focused on creating content a few days a month-if you do it right!

There are a few ways you can make content creation easier by batching your content. By using the tips below, you can spend a little less time worrying about what to post next!

Plan Content Ahead

Ideally, planning out content a month ahead of time is the best way to go. This leaves you with the opportunity to create enough content to last awhile, as well as enough time to make it all happen. You can choose to batch content on a weekly basis or bi-weekly basis depending on how frequently you plan to post.

Having a dedicated calendar or whiteboard that’s specifically for content planning can help you visualize and see where each post will show up. This also gives you an outline for the content you need to create and the best days to create it.

Planning content out is a great skill to have as a freelancer or small business owner and makes social media a little easier to manage.

Stick To Content Creation Dates

Now that you have your schedule planned out for content creation and you know exactly what types of posts you need to make, you can pick a couple of days to create them. You could create all of your content at once and have it ready to go or separate it out to make it more manageable.

For example, if you have a monthly plan for your content, you can create the images for each of those posts in one day and write out the captions for them in a Google Doc. When it’s time to schedule those posts, you’ll have them ready to go.

For reels, you can film them all in one day or set a couple of filming days on your schedule, along with an editing day so reels are cleaned up and ready to post. Similarly, having story ideas ready to go can help you avoid that dreaded blank stare when you open up Instagram.

Having a plan of action for content makes it easier to batch and prepare for posting. If you’re filming multiple reels in a day, I recommend also having multiple outfits picked out. This creates the illusion that you’re posting “in the moment” and it won’t look like you filmed them all in one sitting; even though you did!

Once you pick which days you’re actually going to create all of that well-thought-out content, you have to stick to them. If you don’t, you’ll end up right back at square one with no content made and no idea what to post on Instagram.

Schedule Your Content For Post

You’ve got your content planned out, made, and ready to go. You could plan to post actively and get on Instagram each day to manually upload your post, or you could schedule it to post automatically for you at a certain time. The latter option is a major time-saver when it comes to social media!

While Instagram doesn’t currently support a feature for in-app scheduling, there are third-party apps that have stepped up to fill that need. Applications such as Later make it easy to schedule your posts on Instagram.

Later allows you to schedule and auto-post content on Instagram as well as a few other social media sites. It’s a one-stop shop for keeping all of your social media accounts current and active when it comes to regular posting. You can also view detailed analytics for your posts through Later.

Work Smarter, Not Harder!

Batching content can be a lifesaver if you are the sole creator of your social media content. There is a reason social media managers have become more popular in recent years! Often, it’s too much for one person to run a business and run social media accounts.

If you are multitasking like the absolute business wizard you are and creating all of your own social media content, hopefully, after learning some of these content batching tips, you can stop freezing up on the Instagram post page.
